| CHAPTER ACCOMPLISHMENTS In and around Brooklyn, New York City, and the Country: Our Chapter conducts an Annual Veterans Recognition Day in the Park where the emphasis is on the POW/MIA issue. Our Chapter conducted a POW/MIA flag raising ceremony in Marine Park. It was the first time in 20 years that a POW/MIA flag has flown in the park. Chapter 1 donated and maintains the POW/MIA flag. Our Chapter conducted a POW/MIA flag raising ceremony at Victory Memorial Hospital in Bay Ridge. Chapter 1 donated and maintains the POW/MIA flag. Chapter 1 participates in Rolling Thunder®, Inc's Annual Ride for Freedom in Washington D.C. In addition to marshaling the parade route, we pay tribute to the brave men and woman who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of The United States of America by visiting the Vietnam Wall and the monuments of all past wars. Chapter 1 participated in the ceremony renaming the 69th Street Pier to the "American Veterans Memorial Pier." We also donated the POW/MIA flag for the event. Our Chapter participates in the Kings County Memorial Day Parade and is committed to future Memorial Day Parades. Chapter 1 hosts a Christmas Dinner for the Veterans at the St. Albans Veterans Hospital. Chapter 1 was proud to co-host and participate in the Ft Hamilton Wounded Warriors Military 10-13 Tribute. A week long tour of New York City and Welcome Home Parade for returning soldiers. The Ride for the "84", remembering those men and woman from Staten Island who died in VietNam. We host an Education and Schools program teaching both elementary and high school classes about Veterans and American Patriotism. Chapter 1 hosts an annual Winter Coat Drive bring our veterans blankets and coats at the Salvation Army Veterans Shelter in Long Island City, Queens |
